DIY "Green" Pine Sol and shower cleaner

So a year ago I decided to being using and making "green" cleaning products that are safe around children, pets, pregnant women, etc.

So after a phone call to a friend, who was all a-buzz about making her own cleaning products, I realized I needed to share some of my all-favorite cleaning recipes.

**The measurements are not exact.**

Homemade {Green} Pine Sol

3 cups hot water
1/3 cup lemon juice
4 Tbs. Baking Soda
3 Tbs. liquid dish soap (regular soap works just fine too. If it is in bar form, shred and melt in hot water)
5 drops tea tree oil (find at Fred Meyer, and other department stores)

This can be used as an all-purpose cleaner, it just smells exactly like Pine Sol. You may pour some in a bucket of water to use for mopping the floors, or any other cleaning project or use as-is for a very strong cleaning agent for those tough projects!

I normally make a large batch, and keep it in a milk jug under my sink.

Homemade {Green} Shower Cleaner

Vinegar removes soap scum, dirt, and mildew. Plain white distilled vinegar in a sprayer. If your shower head is needing a good clean, just attach a ziplock full of vinegar with a rubber band.

If your grout is looking a bit dingey you may use a baking soda & dish soap mixture (make into a paste). I also use this method for cleaning dishes with caked on food, too.

Or if your grout really needs a good cleaning, try using cream of tartar which is a natural bleaching agent. It should not strip or hurt the grout or seal in any way.

Mold Killer
Hydrogen Peroxide*

Use a spray bottle to apply to the walls or other affected areas. By spraying the mold you are less likely to spread the spores (compared to just wiping off).

*Hydrogen Peroxide is used for first aid, although higher concentrations are available. If you are using a higher concentration of peroxide, please use gloves as you might experience some discomfort if it accidentally gets on your skin. Hydrogen peroxide may bleach clothing if you do not rinse it out.*
